Text Analysis - The Quiet Place

This is my video analysis for 'The Quiet Place'

The text was an extract from 'The Quiet Place'. The first idea is that the film makers makes it seem like the characters have to be quiet and make the minimum amount of sound. Another idea, is that film makers wanted to show that the setting of the extract was an abandoned/deserted town. The last idea in the extract is to show that the only people occuppating the area was a small family and that no one else was around as if something made them vanish.

As for one of the idea, the film makers showed scenes and long shots around the town area that was broken down and resides no sign occupation. This shows that the place was for some reason abandoned and deserted. Using long shots of the emtpty neighborhood or the low angles of the shop's dusty and messy floors shows that the place has not been taken care of thus making the place feel and look empty to the audience. Another way of showing the remnants of the town was by making the places have no artificial lighting such as ligths inside the shops or active traffic lights but instead broken down ones in the streets. This also shows that people was once living in the town but not anymore maybe because of the same reason as the charcters was meant to be quiet.

Comments

  1. - Mention the big idea in the opening sentence.
    - Why was the long shot used specifically at the beginning, what is the reason?
    - I don't really know what big idea you are talking about, your examples don't really support it.
