Magazine Development

Here is the decvelopment process of my magazine. I will put all of my ideas here and reflect on the decisions that I make. Genre: Architecture Sub-Genre : Balinese Modern-Traditional Name of Magazine: "Balinese Design Chronicle" "Architectura Baliensis" "Bali Heritage Builder" "BaliVernacular: The Architecture Journal" "Cultural Constructs: Balinese Architecture" "Bali Built: An Architectural Odyssey" "Unique Complex Structure: Balinese Designs" "Balinese Blueprint" "ArchaeDesign Bali" "Bali's Architectural Tapestry" I went with "BaliVernacular: The Architecture Journal" because it captures my love for Balinese architecture and its cultural roots. Statement Of Intent

This is my statement of intent and in case it is hard to see, there is a link of the document in the bottom of the text just in case it is unreadbable. https://docs.google.com/document/d/120iWQDmldGxGa23JE5jmPAs4B9P087D0VwGN-2HKJ1U/edit?usp=sharing LINK OF THE DOCUMENT JUST IN CASE Reflection: Doing this statement of intent really helps making my magazine as it serves as a brainstorm or plan to continue making my magazine about architecture. With the statement of Intent, I now know what kinds of Demographics and Psychographics to do, What my magazine needs to contain and what not to contain. I was told to also have a secondary target audeince which mine was an older audience that are interested in Balinese Architecture. This serves as a backup plan and a way to target and sell to more audiences using the same genre.

Magazines: Targeting Audiences through Demographics + Psychographics

Here are my notes from a lesson about how media companies target audiences I worked as part of a group but participated in the discussion MEGA, September 2022 (issue), Future plc, Maverick Magazines (publisher) CODE, September-Octorber 2023 (issue), EPS Software Corp (publisher) Our Notes: Reflection:  I found out that magazine makers first pick who they want to read their magazine, using stuff like age and interests. Then they use certain pictures and words on the cover to attract those readers. I can do the same for my magazine project. I just need to figure out who I want to read it (like guys who are into motorcycles and are between 16 and 30) and then use things that would interest them, like a picture of someone riding a motorcycle on the cover.  For genres, I learned that magazines in the same category need to be kind of the same so people know what to expect, but also a bit different to keep things interesting. So, for my magazine, I can write a review about a motorcycle, whi

Religion, Gender, Age. Race/Ethnicity, Social Class, LGBT, Disability Groups Sterotyped in Indonesian Media: POSITIVE: Bule helps Clean Bali's River What is the group? Bules or Foreign Tourists How are they represented? Good, Nice, Helpful, Kind and Thoughtful What is the reason for this? Inform that the Stereotypes of Bules are not all true and that some can be kind and smart. How does the audience recieve this message? As a Balinese citizen(Who the media is for), these kind of news are not seen much but are very heart warming to see foreigners do the jobs that we were mean

Magazine Research

Image
Here is the research of my magazine. BIG ANALYSIS Media Language The genre convention of a Tourism and Culture shows a unique and unfamiliar clothing or lifestlye. This magazine confirms this as it shows a one and only dancing uniform from Bali worn by the children, directly showing the different culture for someone foreign and traveling to Bali. The cover image features two young Balinese boys in vibrant traditional dancing costumes, creating an exotic and culturally rich atmosphere. The use of the "udeng" and Balinese masks signifies the magazine's focus on traditional Balinese culture. The bold and prominent title, "The Echo," helps establish the magazine's brand identity and capture the reader's attention. Representations The cover image represents Balinese culture as colorful, vibrant, and traditional, with the young boys symbolizing the richness of the island's heritage. The use of traditional attire and masks reinforces the idea that the mag

Component 1 - Brief

Here is the brief for component 1. I have decided to choose the magazine option. Reflection: I had zero to no interest at first learning about magazines, but I figured the design aspect could be of use for me and the knowledge of why some sell more than others could be useful too. With this knowledge I could thrive in businesses better and have a better opportunity in gaining the things I need.
